Variations on "Russian Sailor's Dance"
- Composer
- David Bobrowitz
Using Reinhold Gliere's famous dance melody from the ballet The Red Poppy, arranger Bobrowitz creates a very engaging set of variations that should have your students clamoring to play it every day! After a mysterious Russian-sounding chorale, Gliere's theme is powerfully introduced in the low brass and reeds. He immediately follows this theme statement by creating a series of variations that pick up speed and intensity, culminating with a rousing conclusion. This is a very fun new take on a classic!
