Pat-a-pan

Pat-a-pan is a French Carol that tells the Christmas story from the perspective of shepherds out in the field playing simple instruments.  This creative arrangement captures the feel of a flute and drum reverently played on a starlit night, beginning with a rhythmic drone in the low strings imitating a hypnotic drum beat.  Gorgeous countermelodies and some fantasia-like writing give further depth to this fine arrangement, and the dissonant ending fades to a final haunting chord.
